"One More Time" with Ted Harris
Sandinista! is at its heart an experiment: a big, messy, fascinating experiment. Although the songs from the record that got played on the radio were its straight rock'n'roll songs ("Police on My Back," "Somebody Got Murdered"), it was most exciting to hear the band stretch out into unknown territory. One of those stretches was "One More Time." In that spirit, the version of "One More Time" on The Sandinista Project stretches the song in a whole new direction. Ted Harris is a veteran of the legendary Chicago/Boston duo Chartreuse Microbus, in recent years has performed in a more standard soul context, and in this wild One More Time (3.9M, M4A format) gives us something completely different. It sounds nothing like the Clash; it's totally in the spirit of the Clash.
